Title: Pre-release Announcement of Ashramam's new mobile-friendly app "रङ्ग  पादुका श्रीः"

Dear Bhagavathas,

With our Acharyan’s Anugraham and Kataksham, we have reached an initial, yet very important milestone in our Ashramam’s information and technology services. Yes!. It is the application system we all have been waiting and rooting for. Please note that this is a pre-release announcement and we request you to stay tuned for the actual announcement coming soon. Our Acharyan will decide the actual release date.

Just a few days ago, our Acharyan has seen the birth of a new application system. He has given it a beautiful, holy name.

रङ्ग  पादुका श्रीः  is a mobile-friendly application (app for short hereafter). In its initial version, it will be  invocable from a button at the Ashramam’s one and only one, official website.

The label for this button will be the name of the app itself. रङ्ग  पादुका श्रीः  app can also be directly accessed using the following link (if you would like to create a bookmark)

Although रङ्ग  पादुका श्रीः neatly fits a smart cellphone screen, it is usable from all other devices, namely, tablets, notebooks, computers etc,.

Like in any enterprise/institutional information system, it is very important to bring our community of users together through a secure login and registration subsystem in order to provide a range of Ashramam services. With proper and secure data recording in different app modules, many of these services will become user-driven, self-service.

Hence, our initial launch of रङ्ग  पादुका श्रीः provides the first and foremost important secure login and registration subsystem and a placeholder app home page with a bunch of buttons properly grouped under important headings (aka using folder-like Tabs) where the system will provide relevant, module-specific content and interactions.

रङ्ग  पादुका श्रीः is truly an enterprise-class app. It stores all of the data in a structured and properly-modelled, secure, back-end database. It does not store data in a loose fashion in external storage models like connected Google spreadsheet, external files, and even in the system’s local file system.

For instance, here is a screenshot of a couple of test user’s stored login data inside the database.

The password that is private to every user in never stored directly in an open textual form like you would enter it yourself in a field where its content is hidden on your login screen. Your password is encrypted and transformed internally into  ‘password_hash’ and ‘salt’ data elements which no one can figure out what it is. Also, someone hacking just these 2 stored data elements cannot decipher your password. We will implement this security policy for all data elements that need to follow user privacy needs including say, your Aadhaar card number which we currently collect in certain forms and for Mangalashasanam program.

We live in a heavily wired/wireless, connected and open society where we communicate with our email addresses and mobile phones. Like in every app, these 2 data elements, being used in the login module, will not be encrypted in the database.

The screens that we have designed are truly first-of-its-kind, pretty unique and Ashramam-oriented in their look-and-feel.  We will keep our progressive documentation consistent with how the system evolves. The screens that have a light, bright blue background indicate system modules that have been already implemented, and are live and operational, while the screens that have a light, off-white (soft, light yellowish tinge) indicate module(s) are shown online but they are yet to be implemented (it is under construction based on a IT project plan). The same explanation holds true for buttons on the रङ्ग  पादुका श्रीः screens. If they are shown in bright pink and light pink colors, then they are not yet implemented and simply placeholders for things to come.

Given below are the Login screen, User Registration screen and 3 App Home screens. The main App Home screen has 3 Tabs that group buttons for each Tab. Please note the App Home screen will be pretty organic and may change depending on how we design and implement various modules in our multi-year journey to complete the full system in its entirety over and beyond our initial expectations.

The best way a system evolves is when users are informed of the things in the horizon and what additions and changes occur in every release of the system. We promise to do a very thorough and professional documentation and also engage with the user community with proper communication. We will help you with good documentation for every screen along the way with each and every app release.
