Important Announcement – March 15, 2025

Our Ashramam has the following important announcement.

As a quick and gentle reminder, Srimad ThiruKudanthai Andavan’s (Srimad SriVedanta Ramanuja MahaDesikan) 119th ThiruNakshathra Mahotsavam is coming soon. Our Acharyan will be celebrating the Mahotsavam between April 2nd and April 6th, 2025 in the Chennai Ashramam. All are welcome.

As a prelude to this Mahotsavam, Ashramam is delighted to bring you a gallery of a few hundred precious and very rare black-and-white photos of Srimad ThiruKudanthai Andavan. This photo gallery is presented above this announcement.  It will automatically show one photo at a time every 8 seconds. You can scroll back-and-forth using the arrow buttons on the left and right sides of the gallery box. Also, you can pause the auto-scroll by touching any part of the photo area or by keeping your arrow pointer inside the photo area on the computer screen.

Enjoy the photos and, for some of you, those wonderful memories of the Ashramam’s bygone era under the 9th Peetadhipathi between 1960s and 1980s.

The source for these wonderful photos is a great masterpiece book on Srimad ThiruKudanthai Andavan published by our Ashramam in 1981. It is out of print since and there is only one copy in the Ashramam Library. The black-and-white photos in this book have all been digitally captured to create the above photo gallery.

Please note that all of the original home page contents are all there and are below this important photo gallery and current announcement.

Who We Are

Srirangam Srimad Andavan Ashramam is an institution that is over three hundred years old, and belongs to the Sri Vaishnava tradition. It follows the teachings of vishishtadvaita, as propounded by Bhagavad Ramanuja and Srimad Vedanta Desika.

The main spiritual headquarter of the Andavan Ashramam is in Srirangam, where most acharyas of this lineage have spent their saintly lives.

The institution has over 35 centres spread across India and the US. The institution also runs the Andavan Arts and Science College, several veda-patasalas, and goshalas.

The main symbol of worship in the Andavan tradition is the divine sandals of Sri Ranganatha known simply as Rangantha-padukas.
